Emergency Resources
On a national level the U.S. Department of Homeland Security oversees all aspects of emergency preparedness. In the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other large-scale emergency, the Department of Homeland Security will provide a coordinated, comprehensive federal response and mount a swift and effective recovery effort.
In 2003, The Department of Homeland Security launched Ready.gov. It is a national public service advertising (PSA) campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural and man-made disasters. The goal of the campaign is to get the public involved and ultimately to increase the level of basic preparedness across the nation.
